I’m not much of a fake tanner but when I saw Technic Tan out of Ten, I was willing to give it a go. The one that I have is the Fast Developing Self Tan Mousse.
Now I’ll be honest, I am crap at fake tan. Every time that I do it, something always seems to go wrong. But this one, I think turned out okay. As you can see in the picture below, there is quite a difference in colour! I was pretty shocked at how well and easy it was to apply. I used a tanning mit and pumped the mousse onto that and then rubbed it in, which again was easy.
Best advice would be to stand in front of a mirror and do it. You’re probably thinking no shit sherlock, but I missed so many parts on my body, so having the mirror there meant I could go back and see all the places I didn’t blend in LOL. Also, I’m not one to prep myself the night before for a fake tanning ‘sesh’. So not going to lie, I had half grown hairy legs and I did not exfoliate to get rid of my dead skin (nice), therefore I was expecting the worst when applying the mousse. But my ‘non prep’ attitude didn’t seem to effect the results at all. It also states on the bottle that it takes 4 hours to develop, and they certainly were not wrong.
After applying the tan, it does say that you should let it dry before getting dressed which is fine, but I found myself stood in my room naked for about 20 minutes because I felt ‘sticky’ from the tan. I then got dressed, and stupidly I did decide to wear a white t-shirt. BAD MOVE. From having my t-shirt tucked in for a four hour shift at work, I had tan on the inside of my t-shirt which had obviously rubbed off from my stomach. I’m just praying that it comes off in the wash, although, it does state on the back of the bottle ‘product may cause staining’. Good one Chlo.
I applied the tan in morning, and then went to work in the afternoon. Unfortunately, I reeked of fake tan all day. I don’t know if it is possible to fake tan and not smell of it? If it is, I would like to know which tan that is! But to round it up, here is a simple pro’s and con’s list.
PROS
- It does work and gives you a tanned look
- It is pretty easy to apply
- You see a result quite quickly
- Nice colour tan, doesn’t look too fake
CONS
- You can smell it on you ALL DAY
- It rubs off onto your clothes
- Feels like it takes a while to dry
If it ever came to me needing to fake tan, I probably would use this one again. In all fairness it is very similar to the Bondi Sands Dark Foam, but both are just as good! I like the colour and the end result!
