We are finally in December and the shops are filled with gifts to be bought for people. It’s overwhelming I know. Here are a few tips on how to stay organised for your christmas shopping and how to find the perfect gift.
One. Use a notebook. As silly as it sounds, most people wouldn’t even think about lifting up a pen and notebook to jot down present ideas. I love to be organised, so I’m always creating lists to help me out and make things seem that little bit clearer. First thing you can start of with is by writing down all the names that you have to buy presents for. Make sure to leave a large space under their name as well because then you can jot down ideas that pop into your head. Write the item under their name, with the price and where to get it from. Once you get started and your mind warms up, loads of little gift ideas start popping up in your mind and before you know you’ve written quite a few down.
You will get a few brain freezes where you have no idea what to get that special someone. That is okay. That is normal haha. Take a break and come back to it another day.
Two. Break it down. You don’t have to complete all of your Christmas jobs in one day. If you’ll be doing a bit of online shopping then use your notebook of ideas and do one website at each time referring back to your notes. Try to be clever and think of who is first priority to do with timing. Draw a little star next to people who need to have the presents early in December and get theirs done first. Then you can work down the priority list and not panic that your only half way through and haven’t started the person who you are exchanging presents with in two days.
Three. Be practical. Don’t waste your money. Set a limit for each person so you have some kind of idea of how much you’ll be spending/ have spent.
Four. Be thoughtful. No one likes receiving a gift that they know no thought has gone into. For me, effort and thought are the best things for a gift. It just shows that you were actually thinking about that person and your not picking a willy nilly gift for the sake of it. I always try and stay away from the body wash sets. Personally I hate giving these kind of gifts to people because I find it comes across as if I’ve just picked it up off the shelf and gone ‘yeah that’ll do’ and not put any thought into it. Again, that is only my opinion. But if you find yourself in that situation where your stuck on ideas and all you want to do is pick up that body wash set, then think. What is their favourite chocolate bar? What is their favourite shop for a voucher? Try and think about that person on a personal level to really get that present right this year.
Five. Relax. As hard as you may believe, Christmas isn’t supposed to be about stress, it’s about spending time with loved ones and relaxing. In the evenings stick on some comfy clothes and have a glass of wine or a big mug of tea whilst organising everything. Don’t let it get to you. Christmas will always be amazing no matter what.
