Okay so maybe I’m being a little too eager for Spring but hey can you blame me? Everyone is on a low because Christmas is over (me!) and the weather is cold and dull. Bring on Spring baby! I really do enjoy the Spring season because the sun starts shining a little more, flowers start to grow and spring fashion is my favourite. Okay I lie a little, Spring AND Autumn are my favourite. We have already seen the check blazer making an influence in Winter, and it will not be going anywhere any time soon. It will be a key piece for your wardrobe to add to any outfit. Who doesn’t love a blazer that you can just throw on to complete your look? Not only will it make getting dressed in the Spring a lot more easier, it makes the outfit look really chic.
Of course you can style it with jeans, whether that’s a skinny fit, mom or straight leg, but even over dresses or a skirt would look really cool. The next thing on my shopping list is a co-ord. That’s right. I want a check blazer and check trousers to match. Here are some pictures that I’ve put together to help give some inspiration and convince you that you need a blazer. No I’m just kidding, but here are some street styles rocking a check blazer that I really like.
I do of course own one myself. The one I’m wearing I got in the Topshop sale (link here) and was £20. What a bargain buy! It is a jersey material which I quite like because the material isn’t too stiff so it’s comfortable and soft to wear. I bought mine in a size 10 as I wanted it to be a bit oversized as I don’t really do fitted jackets. I do have to roll up the sleeves but again, I don’t mind because it adds to the look that I wanted. There is a skirt that matches this blazer (link here) and would make a super cute co-ord. I haven’t got round to buying that yet, but it is on my ‘to buy’ list!
I’ve styled mine in a few different ways now. Obviously in this post I have worn my Topshop Straight leg jeans (these ones) with a graphic/slogan tee which I was kindly gifted from Missy Empire and a baker boy hat. I really loved this outfit so will probably be wearing similar stuff for the next few months lol. I’ve also worn it with my blue denim skirt, and a thick polo neck jumper just to mix it up a bit (picture here) and then of course, just chucked on over a pair of black skinny jeans with again, another slogan tee (picture here).
Okay so you now decide that you want a check blazer. Where do you even start?! So many clothing websites and so much choice. To try and make life that little bit more easier for you and to save you scrolling through tons of websites, I’ve done it for you. Here is selection of check blazers that I’ve found. (Click on the image you like and it’ll take you straight to the link!)
Who would’ve thought that I would be completely in love with baker boy hats. I remember when they first came out I said to someone at work that I very much disliked them and not really feeling that look but look at me now, can’t get enough of the bloody hat. I’ve always had a self battle when it comes to hats because I always thought I look stupid, but now I just don’t care. If I like it, I’m going to try and make it work haha. I think seeing loads of people wearing them about when I’m also out does make me feel more at ease. I almost feel like we are a part of the baker boy hat club. Some sort of hat connection. Okay I’m talking absolute nonsense now.
What can I say, baker boy hats will be another thing you see a lot of this year. You can’t get rid of them that easily!
