My favourite thing about Christmas is giving gifts. My second favourite thing about Christmas is wrapping the gifts! There really isn’t a better feeling after wrapping your presents and feeling proud of how they look. Decorating them and wrapping them nicely shows that a little bit extra effort was put in it. Picking the right wrapping paper is always a mission for me as it has to be just right. I normally tend to go with the ‘rustic’ look i.e brown paper. I bought mine this year from TkMaxx, £3 for like three metres so it’s kind of a rip off but I thought it looked really nice and gave in. I did see that you can actually make wrapping paper identical to this using brown paper and a potato (here) but lets be honest, I couldn’t be bothered. I quickly ran out of the wrapping paper below so I then just used brown paper with gold snowflakes on it as it still goes with the colour scheme.
BLACK & GOLD
It sounds really sad but I did my presents in colour schemes. My first lot of presents (which are for my dad) I chose to do black and gold. It still looks quite glamorous and christmassy, but it goes with the brown paper really well and it also looks a bit masculine because of the black. A thing that I have only recently discovered is washi tape. It’s like pretty cellotape but in any colour. You can do all sorts with it and really experiment. The great thing too is that they are really cheap and affordable to buy. I usually get mine from www.theworks.co.uk as I have one in my town but because they also have a wide variety. I know for a fact that Amazon sells a load as well. I bought gold washi tape as I knew they were going to be the colours I needed and I have literally sworn by them this Christmas. (You can buy them here). The little glittery reindeers I bought are from Poundland. They were in the craft section normally with all the pens etc and I just thought they were so cute to stick on presents as a little extra something. And for quid, I’m pretty glad I bought them!
The next little essential for my Christmas wrapping this year is thick ribbon. UGH I LOVE IT. It’s covered in glitter and really finishes the present off. Again this ribbon is from The Works (here) but of course Amazon will have a load as well.

BLACK, RED & GOLD
The second colour scheme I chose was red, black and a very pale gold. Brown paper literally goes with everything. I always try to mix the wrapping decorations up. Like I never want them to all look the same so I try and do something a little different with every present. As you can probably tell, I bought the thick ribbon in glittery red too!!!! (Can buy here) and of course washi tape was used to decorate as well.
My most favourite thing I bought was this red and white striped string. It comes in a three pack along with a red one and a white one (Buy here). It looks SUPER cute and adds a little bit of detail to finish it off. I’ve used this string in so many different ways – as you can see in the picture below I’ve just used it as a four way tie and did a bow, in the picture above I literally just randomly wrapped the present around in the string which looks pretty cool.

GIFT TAGS
Gift tags!!! I think I enjoyed making these more than I should of. I just bought a pack of brown paper tags off Amazon because they go with everything and the kind of look I was going for. I then used the red and white striped washi tape (can buy from here) and stuck that all the way round the bottom or up one side. I then just wrote everyone’s name in big writing and drew a cute little leaf pattern thing to fill up the space haha. On the back I just wrote a little message and then attached them to the presents. With the red and white striped washi tape it really makes them look festive and kind of adds a bit more to the wrapping.

UNDER THE CHRISTMAS TREE
This Christmas I wanted to try something a little different. Instead of having everyones presents under the tree in piles, this year each person has a box. All of the pictures above are how the presents are wrapped inside the box. You can see how the gift tags look great with the brown paper and the decorations. Like I said before, I’ve tried to decorate each box differently so they don’t all look the same.
If anyone else has done a post about how they wrapped them presents I would love to see!
Merry Christmas Everyone!

These ideas look great! I need to start taking more care with present wrapping and I love the brown rustic look – and love the black christmas tree touch! Those tags look gorgeous – so professional and pretty!

Hey just wondring how you tied these big amazing bows?
Chloe Hayward
The big gold bows were bought from The Card Factory and I did the big red one myself (as you can tell because it’s not that good lol.) But with the thick ribbon tie a knot, and then make two loops and tie them together to form the bow. This way kind of gets it straight/even and then just flare and puff out the loops to get the bow shape!
