So somehow I was incredibly lucky and was asked by JD Sports to be the face for the New Balance 608 campaign. Pinch me. As I’ve taken Instagram a lot more seriously the past two years, it has made me a lot more confident in front of the camera but this was the first time I was doing a proper shoot. Words cannot tell you how I nervous I was haha. I kept asking myself “why have they picked me?” and even when I turned up to the shoot I said “Are you sure you got the right person?” Haha. I genuinely couldn’t believe that I was given such an amazing opportunity for something so exciting. For when I first started Instagram in 2012 I had no idea that any of these kind of things existed. Even if someone told me last year about all the great things that have happened due Instagram, I would not believe them one bit.
The shoot was in Brighton which was obviously very handy for me as it was close to get to. Getting lost on the way there didn’t really help the nerves to be honest haha. I honestly think I asked about 5 strangers how to get to this building, and then even when I was inside I got lost because there was so many corridors. God help me I suck at geography and navigation. Everyone was so lovely which really calmed me down and made me relax. I even had my own hair/make up artist and a stylist like SAY WHAT! The first hour went really slow as obviously I had never done something like this before so I had no clue what to do and I still felt like stiff in front of the camera. So yeah it took a little while to get the first shoe done but afterwards I kind of got used to it and we moved through them pretty quickly.
So the chunky trainer is still a massive hit in the trends at the moment. For all you haters out there I’m afraid they are sticking around for a little longer! Personally I believe that the Fila Disruptors have kind of had their time to shine and are pretty much over worn, so the New Balance 608 is here to replace them. Or as New Balance like to say, they are the ultimate dad shoe. Which yeah I get, that doesn’t really sell it for ya but trust me when I say this, they actually do look really cool on. They have been released in four different colour ways:
-White & baby pink
-White & black
-White, turquoise & hot pink
-White, royal blue & yellow
