With summer finally here and us getting the weather we deserve, I won’t lie when I say that I’ve been struggling to find outfits for me to survive in with this heat. We’ve never had it this hot before where I live, and if we did, it’s only ever lasted a day. So it is safe to say that I’m finding it difficult to not get hot and sweaty whilst still looking good lol. In my last post I did mention that I’m a little winter baby but I am looking on the positive side of summer and making the most of it, for example, my tan is topping up nicely, I have an excuse to eat ice cream everyday and I get to smell everyones BBQ’s in their back gardens when I’m walking home from work. Here are three key summer pieces that I am finding essential this season.
Lightweight Shirts
I never realised how cooling and easy lightweight shirts are to wear. I always used to stay away from them because I always thought it was a bit too office like for my taste but after seeing this leopard print shirt on Ivy Kove, I was willing to give it a go. I paired it with my white denim skirt from Topshop because having my legs out helps me keep cooler, but also, I really loved the neutral colours together. I then finished the outfit with my western buckle belt, Zara chain city bag and cat eye sunglasses to make the look a bit more chic. I originally got my sunglasses from a mini stall at a festival but Accessorize sell an identical pair so I’ve linked you up with those ones!
I honestly cannot get over how much I love this shirt. I am obsessed with leopard print as it is, but I adore the colours in this one. Like I said, they are really neutral and easy to style. It is extremely lightweight which is obviously what you want for the heat but it is also a little bit sheer which I love because it’s a little bit cheeky but it is also still very classy. I am excited for when the weather cools down a little bit as I can’t wait to wear this shirt with mom jeans too. But can we also acknowledge how wonderful white denim skirts are? Hello brown legs where did you come from? Oh no wait, it’s just white denim creating an illusion and making me look more tanned than I actually am haha. I used to be a bit stuck up and think white denim was a bit trashy but now I take that back and I’m all over it. P.s these white mom shorts are on my wishlist to buy!
Slouch Jumpsuits
With the weather being warm I also find it good to wear something that is comfortable and airy. I own about three slouchy jumpsuits now but they are honestly so worth having in your wardrobe as a back up for days when you don’t know what to wear. The jumpsuit that I am wearing is from Ivykove and it fits like a dream. On the website it states that it is beige and navy but personally to me it looks more like a black which I’m quite happy about. I got my normal size and it fits me perfectly so I would advise you to stay true to your size. It does have a zip on the back as well which is always a plus because that means you don’t have to try and squeeze your legs and bum through the neck.
I really do love the colours as they are very neutral and fits in really well with the colour palette for this summer’s trends. As the weather starts to cool down, I know for a fact that I’ll be wearing this with a white tee underneath and white trainers for a cool casual look. In these images I styled the jumpsuit with my diamond sunglasses which I originally got mine from Primark but Topshop do identical ones here. I wore my western buckle belt to give me a bit of shape around the waist but on a bloated day you can get away with just wearing it baggy. I wear my Zara chain city bag almost everyday so no shock it’s in another outfit photo. The mules I am wearing are from Miss Selfridge about two years ago. I have tried looking around online to find similar ones but have been unsuccessful. Sorry :(
Patteren Blouses
One of the many prints that is big this summer is polka dot. As soon as I saw this blouse on Ivykove I knew I just had to have it. I don’t own any tops in this style or kind of fit so I was excited to try something new. I love the cuffs as it gives the sleeves a really lovely shape and makes it look really classy, especially with the simple black and white dot print. Another reason as to why I was drawn to it is because of the wrap around detail on the front. On the image on the website the model is wearing the bow with longer ties but I personally preferred it with a smaller bow, so I wrapped it round a few more times until I was happy. With this top I think you can wear the waist tie however you feel. It’s really fun to experiment with!
This outfit I would probably wear more on a cloudy summer day or in the evening time if I was going out for a meal. I paired it with my Topshop Mom jeans but you could pair it with black jeans if you want that smarter look or even blue denim mom shorts with some trainers for that comfy city look. As the blouse is monochrome it’s really nice to add a pop of colour to the outfit so that’s why I added my red tassel earrings and Topshop crab bag to make it look a bit more summery. Unfortunately the Topshop crab bag is out of stock online but I’d keep checking because they might restock it! The next time I wear this blouse, I’ll probably wear it with shorts and plain silver earrings so that I can wear a colourful bag to create a nice contrast in colours.

These photos are gorgeous!! I totally get what you mean about lightweight shirts looking a bit office-y and work-wear like. I’m now investing in some more for my wardrobe right now. I got a similar leopard print one from asos this week!xx
