As soon as we hit November, we don’t like to admit it, but the stress levels slowly rise up each time we think about the month December. It is hard to not think about Christmas and go ‘crap I need to do that!!’.
Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year without a doubt, but it can also be the most stressful. Sometimes it’s hard to forget that it is such an amazing time of the year because we fill out heads with so much stress that the big day needs to be perfect. Here are a few little reminders to keep you calm and to try and prevent the Christmas stress!
- Stop worrying that it needs to be perfect.
Christmas is commercialised to be the most magical extravagant time of the year and don’t get me wrong, it is amazing, but it is so hard to not put pressure on yourself that it has to be this big special wow event. As soon as you stop panicking that it needs to be perfect and just focus on the important things which is spending time with the family, you’ll start to stress less and look forward to Christmas day.
- Be tidy.
We all have them late night wrapping sessions whilst watching the tv which just results in a mess all over the floor. I can guarantee that you will end up hating your house/flat because of the Christmas clutter. Try to be tidy and keep organised. Clean space = clean mind.
- Prioritise.
My mum is the absolute worst at this haha but her being unorganised has made me organised. Plan out your Christmas. It is honestly that simple. Write down who you need to buy presents for, write down the Christmas food you need to buy, write down on the calendar the people you need to meet up with, just write everything down. The more you plan, the more you will feel like you’ve got it sorted.
- Take time out for yourself.
Don’t feel guilty for needing a break sometimes. It is a busy month and sometimes we all need to put our feet up and relax for a bit. So enjoy a glass of wine or hot chocolate and let your mind breathe. Remember that it is your Christmas holiday too so make sure you are having fun as well!
